Log Building Solutions has built multiple homes around the world. A few international projects are listed below and briefly explain the processes used to complete each home.
Istanbul, Turkey
Two months of training and overseeing a turnkey project of the Lewisburg Model Home, supplied by Kuhns Bros. Log Homes, Inc was completed in Istanbul, Turkey. Due to the language barrier, the process of completing the home was slow. Nevertheless, using laborers from the homeland whose construction techniques were different than our own and who had never worked with logs, shingles and tongue and groove, the home was completed beautifully.
Belfast-Dublin, Ireland
A lot of work was accomplished during one week in Dublin, setting logs and giving instructions on how to finish an 8″ round Swedish Cope home. Later, time was spent in Belfast working along side of home owners and other contractors to explain the gasket and sealing techniques of stacking logs. We notched in the first floor system and began log work above square. Both homeowners completed the log process and finished their homes.
Thessaloniki, Greece
In Thessaloniki, Greece we spent only two weeks stacking 8″x8″ D profile logs; installing a window and door as well as trimming them; and completing a loft system, gables, structural walls, stairway to loft, ridge beam and a set of rafters and out-lookers. All construction processes were then explained to the home owner and contractor to perform remaining phases of work for completion. The blue prints were explained and detail sheets were reviewed to enable a smooth construction process after our return home.
Geneva, Switzerland
A chalet style log home built in the Alps took only a matter of weeks. The work performed involved installation of the floor system, stacking of the logs, completion of loft areas, installation of temporary stairs, completion of roof rafters and valleys, installation of windows and doors, and completion of the gable, siding and dry-in. The interior work had been completed by the homeowner.
